This past summer, Riptide Cafe marked one year (Happy belated birthday Riptide!) of caffeinating our favorite island locals and our many travelers from across the globe! We want to thank everyone who has visited us since we opened our doors last summer, whether it was a one-time stop in or more frequent visits in the past year. Cheers to you (with a coffee mug)!
About Us
Since opening, we’ve learned a lot, made some changes and continue to grind (haha) at being the best. We brew Stumptown Coffee out of Portland, Oregon; bake fresh cookies and cinnamon rolls with dough we receive from a local shop, Bakery San Juan; we have bagels and breakfast sandwiches from Seattle Bagel Bakery, flown up to us from Seattle; our quiche come from Felicitations here on San Juan; we’re working on baking our own scones, breads and providing fresh lunch sandwiches as well. Our hand-crafted beverages are made with organic whole or skim milk, and we offer soy, almond or coconut milk as alternatives. We seek out as much natural, organic and local products to provide you with healthy, nutritious snacks to have, whether you’re joining one of many whale watching companies on a tour or exploring down town Friday Harbor.
In addition, we are excited to share that we now have WiFi! Treat yourself to a delicious hand-crafted beverage, enjoy the water-front view and check your e-mail (if you really have to). Just ask our barista how to connect!

In an effort to keep you all informed on the happenings here at the café, we’ll be sharing stories with you about the coffee we’re drinking, the places we’re visiting (near and far), and what we’re learning as a team here at Riptide Café. Keep a look out for stories from “Baristas Abroad,” some history lessons in coffee and tea, adventures in our home state (and even own island), and upcoming specials and seasonal treats!
